S novim nadahnućem vratili smo se u Dvadeset treću ulicu da pogledamo našu prostoriju. Ogrlice su stajale obješene na zidu, a ondje je pričvrstio i neke od naših crteža. Stali smo kod prozora promatrajući pahulje snijega koje su padale na fluorescentnu reklamu za Oasis Bar, i na njeno povijeno palmino stablo. "Gledaj", rekao je. "Sniježi u pustinji." Sjetila sam se scene iz filma Lice s ožiljkom Howarda Hawksa u kojoj Paul Muni i njegova djevojka gledaju neonski znak s natpisom "Svijet je tvoj". Robert mi je stisnuo ruku.

On July 19, 2007, police arrested Cambodian-French artist Rindy Sam after she kissed one panel of Twombly's triptych Phaedrus (worth an estimated $2 million). The panel, an all-white canvas, was smudged by Sam's red lipstick. She was tried in a court in Avignon for "voluntary degradation of a work of art".

Sam defended her gesture to the court: "J'ai fait juste un bisou. C'est un geste d'amour, quand je l'ai embrassé, je n'ai pas réfléchi, je pensais que l'artiste, il aurait compris... Ce geste était un acte artistique provoqué par le pouvoir de l'art" ("It was just a kiss, a loving gesture. I kissed it without thinking; I thought the artist would understand.... It was an artistic act provoked by the power of Art").

In November 2007 Sam was convicted and ordered to pay €1,000 to the painting's owner, €500 to the Avignon gallery that showed it, and €1 to the painter.

I have had issues with people. One girlfriend used to punch me. I could see her point, because I do tend to be a bit closed off emotionally. You know when you get into that thing where people want to discuss the relationship? I'd rather discuss what was on telly, avoid the issue, discuss anything other than the relationship. And so this girl, quite rightly, found it a bit much that when she came to concerts you would get all this emotion splurged out on the stage. REM bassist Mike Mills has revealed that he doesn't expect former frontman Michael Stipe to release any solo material in the near future.  The band announced their official split last month after 31 years together. The guitarist said that he believes that Stipe is more likely to work with art and photography instead of making music in the next chapter of his career.  He told Mojo:

"I don't think that [music] is where his passion lies. I think he wants to be in the visual arts. I imagine Michael will do a lot of sculpture and photography. I think those are his big interests now."

Noel Gallagher has revealed that he has finally made up with Damon Albarn over their spat with Oasis during the height of Britpop in the mid-'90s. The pair haven't spoken in over 15 years following the war of words between the two bands which kicked off in 1995 when they went head-to-head in the UK's singles chart with Blur beating the Manchester band to Number One with their hit 'Country House'.

Noel said: "Funnily enough, when I was out last night, I bumped into him. I literally haven't seen the guy for 15 fucking years and I bump into him in some club. We both went, 'Hey! Fucking hell!' and then he said, 'Come on, let’s go for a beer.' So, we're sitting there, having a beer, just going, 'What the fuck was all that about 15 years ago? That was mental.' Gary Barlow, man of the moment, is sitting opposite me in his private recording studio, telling me how he once felt so full of self-loathing he would disguise himself on train journeys to avoid being recognised. This was during the period when Take That first split up, Barlow's solo career had tanked, he had not become "the new George Michael" as predicted, and his old bandmate Robbie Williams's career had gone stellar, with Williams attacking Barlow in the press as variously "selfish, stupid and greedy", "a clueless" and "really dated".

"I was living in Cheshire at the time, going to London and back on the train," says Barlow, a mug of tea perched on his knee. "I used to heavily disguise myself, with a hat and everything. I was overweight, I wasn't feeling great. I was embarrassed to be me, to have people recognise me. I did this for about three years, every day."

The night before the reformed Take That put out tickets for its comeback tour, a nervous Barlow went out with a friend and got drunk. "I'm not a big drinker, so it's rare I start feeling tipsy. But this night I went for it. I woke up the following morning and I had 27 missed calls. All the tickets had sold out. That was the moment I realised: shit, this is big; we're back." How did he feel then? "Amazing. That day was the first time in years that I got on the train, took my hat off and just sat there. People were coming up and being so nice. It felt so good. Last summer, Daft Punk's soundtrack to Tron: Legacy leaked on the internet. You would think that Daft Punk fans might exercise caution when it comes to internet leaks after that unfortunate business with their last studio album, 2005's Human After All. When tracks purporting to be from the follow-up to the multimillion-selling Discovery emerged online, a lot of devotees rushed to announce that they were very obviously faked, that two zeitgeist-defining musical geniuses such as Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo couldn't possibly be responsible for anything so shoddy and uninspired. In the enormously unlikely event that they were responsible, it was suggested, these tracks were clearly intended as a joke to put people off the scent of their forthcoming masterpiece.

Unfortunately, the devotees duly discovered that no, they weren't faked; yes, Bangalter and De Homem-Chrosto were responsible; and no, the tracks weren't a joke.

Evo nas je bas nazvala Zorana da se pohvali nagradom, a mi ovo pisemo da se pohvalimo kako ona i nama radi kostime, iliti outfite ili robu, za nastupe. Uzasno nam je drago za njen uspjeh, ali se i ljudski pribojavamo poskupljenja njenih usluga i njene buduce pretrpanosti i zauzetosti. Kako smo samo jedan i po put bili s njom na nekakvim laganim alkoholnim zabavicama, nemamo cak ni neke zanimljive pikanterije kojima bi ju eventualno ucjenjivali odluci li se za poskupljenje, tako da... sutimo i cekamo. Cestitke i cvijece. Bravo.

Navodno se izradjuju u raznim varijantama, i navodno se autorica jako trudi oko njih, ali lako je moguce da su sve to samo glasine... Dragi prijatelji, vijećali smo i vijećali, i konačno se odlučili za pobjednika našeg mega popularnog i fantastično spektakularnog natječaja. Evo par činjenica. Materijali za remix su se downloadali nama nevjerovatnih 310 puta. Prvo smo mislili napisat da je pristiglo oko 130 remikseva, i da je bilo zaista tesko proći kroz sve to i odabrati pobjednika, pa smo mislili napisati istinu uz referat o lijenosti čovjeka u nas, ali smo se na kraju odlucili samo za istinu. Dakle, broj pristiglih radova je manji od 10. Ali nije 1.

Da ne duljimo, odlučili smo pehar predati Agramsvilleu. Da, da, da, Agramsvilleu, našim kolegama s Yammat kompilacije. Pritom prisežemo svojom čašću i svime u što vjerujemo, da smo se vodili samo glazbom, srcem i visokim nekorumpiranim kriterijima kojima i inače prilazimo stvarima do kojima nam je stalo. Oni su napravili najzavršenije djelo, podsjetili nas na lijena ljetna popodneva, i poprilično nas oduševili zvukom.

Pablo is my godson. His father recorded the heartbeat on his mobile phone at the doctor's office and sent me the recording. His parents were coming to see a live show I was doing, so I took that sound and played it through the sound system. It was really loud and sounded like a mad modular synth when the bass was pumped up. It was this really crazy scene. His heart at the time was probably the size of a pea and I was using it to make this immense sound. He's not very old, so he won't understand when he sees the record. I put it on as a little present to him. WATCH

Zahvaljujemo se na mirnim nocima i carobnim jutrima. Na novopostavljenoj tvornici vode. Na umjerenoj mrznji prema nasem refrenu, kad nije bilo razloga da ona ne preraste u apsolutno nepodnosenje. Zahvaljujemo se na svim posudjenim cigaretama, posudjenim usima, i ramenima za plakanje. Zahvaljujemo se za sve plesne koreografije na terasi. Posebne pohvale idu Sloveniji, svim bjelovarskim kaubojima, velikogorickim kultevima i prostitutkama s Dzamije. Ne bi uspjeli bez vas. Zahvaljujemo se i odsjeku s djecom, i veselimo se s vama, ali sa sigurne udaljenosti. Zahvaljujemo se i Glasu jer je dobar prema nama. Bio je to najkorisniji s** u nasim zivotima. Specijalni pozdrav tajnistvu, pogotovo njegovim novim clanovima. Di nalazite tako prekrasne ljude???

Groove Armada: I came to see whether love can heal, But I won't kneel...

Groove Armada were about to headline the Lovebox festival, their annual celebration of the band's success and its connection to London club culture. But for 2009 they'd decided to play only unreleased material from the album they were slowly piecing together. The songs were darker, more involved than their usual boisterous funk-inflected anthems; both men were worried about the audience's reaction.

''I've been doing gigs since I was six years old and I've never been as nervous as I was before that show,'' Cato recalls. ''It lasted for the first two minutes and then we hit the chorus of 'I Won't Kneel' and every arm in sight went up in the air.''

Calling in from his car as he drives from his farmhouse home, with converted cow shed as studio, in the south-west of France to a nearby town, Cato still gets excited when remembering that July night that effectively reincarnated Groove Armada. The melancholic, burnished 'I Won't Kneel' is now a single from Black Light, the duo's forthcoming sixth studio album. WATCH

When I play I don't feel as if I'm a sex -- sometimes. Sometimes I feel as [if I'm] an entity and an energy and a musician. But the word musician isn't male or female and there are times when I play that I feel as if I have a third leg. And there are times that I feel that I'm pregnant. If I were a male musician I do believe in a way there'd be less available women around because I would know how to turn some of them out -- particularly Jennifer Aniston. Because I just look at her sometimes and say, "I know what to do with you." But that's my third leg self talking, that's not the woman who wants to eat pussy -- because I just don't want to do that. I feel like I’m a bad storyteller in real life when I talk to people but I feel like when I’m writing a song I have a chance to do it right, I have a chance to say it the right way in the words I would like to use. That’s what happens. I end up dwelling on all the characters in the song and forgetting about myself. It almost feels boring to talk about myself: I know that story already. But these characters who come from an example of other people that I’m seeing, that story seems a lot more interesting for me and the people listening to it and I can get some life out of it down the road, playing it a hundred times.
